COMMUNION FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT BE AT SUNDAY WORSHIP

Mayville Lutheran is fortunate to be able to broadcast Sunday morning worship services on local radio and cable television.

A few years ago our Worship and Music Committee sought ways to include in our worshipping community persons who could not attend worship. We decided to do two things.

First we decided to deliver bulletins for each worship service to anyone who requested them. Volunteers do this each week.

Second, we invite persons who would like Holy Communion brought to their homes during the worship service to call the Church office by Thursday. Volunteers are then given the names of those requesting Communion and during the Distribution of Communion during worship, these visitors deliver Communion to those who have requested it.

Visitors are volunteers, who receive a brief review about Communion, and use the order of service included here.

HOME COMMUNION SERVICE

Although some people are reluctant to receive Communion from someone other than the Pastor, many people welcome the opportunity to receive Communion more often than most Pastors are able to bring it.

The volunteers who have participated in this opportunity over the years have most often responded by saying. "This is the most meaning and powerful service I have ever participated i n .

A service like this can be adapted to fit any congregation, whether their worship services are broadcast or not.
