Second Lesson: Philippians 2:1-8 Worship Leader: God is good. Message: Carole Mission Team Members: We are here to celebrate the call of Christ through our baptism, to be his servants in the world. Congregation: Come, Holy Spirit, empower this mission team for Service. Mission Team Members: We are here to celebrate and affirm our unique God-given gifts and to declare that we have been saved through faith for a purpose. Congregation: We thank you, Lord, for the gifts your Holy Spirit has given to these youth and adults. Mission Team Members: We are here to ask for your prayers and blessing as we go to Libby, Montana, to build a house and work for those who need better housing. Congregation: May God go with you as you serve; may God give you his peace and strength; may God give you the energy and enthusiasm to accomplish your servant tasks. We send you out to serve in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Pastor: Our Mission Team members have sponsors
that have sponsored them in many ways already, and now we
ask that sponsors pray for these team members as they head
out to serve. I now ask the Sponsors to stand. Sponsors: Yes, with the help of God. Family Members and Sponsors: (Please come forward and put your hands on your team member.) Lord, we thank you that you have watermarked these Mission Team members with the cross of Christ and that you have identified them as your Children. May they continue to have faith in your promises and may they faithfully respond to your call to serve. In Jesus' name we pray. Parents and Families: Dear Lord, be with _________ as he/she moves on an exciting adventure. Calm his/her fears, ready him/her for new experiences, bless him/her on his/her way, keep him/her safe in his/her travels, and give him/her a servant's heart. I/We ask these things through Jesus Christ, who came to serve. Amen. (Families may return to their seats.) Commissioning: You all are servants for God! I ask you to choose a rock in the water, the water that reminds you that you were baptized with water. Please pray that we are healthy, happy, and most of all that we are doing God's work well and that we are accomplishing lots for this family. Benediction Worship Leader: Let us pray together the prayer attributed to St. Francis of Assisi Congregation: Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. Grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; for it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
