"The Lamplighter!" (As Leader is reading, "Hazel" is walking around the room with an electric lamp, stopping here and there and trying to turn it on) Leader: I brought this small lamp along as a reminder of our old-fashioned kerosene lamps that probably many of you remember using. Now that we have electricity, it is so much more convenient; all we have to do is turn on the switch. (Notices Hazel) Hazel! What are you doing?? Hazel: I don't know what is wrong with this lamp. I've tried everything, but it just won't light. It has a bulb and a cord, but it won't light! What could be wrong?? Voice from Audience: You don't have it plugged in!! Hazel: What? You say it's not plugged in? Oh, I guess you're right. That sure was dumb, to forget something like that. (Plugs it in and it lights.) Well that's better. I guess I forgot it needs a source of power to light. Leader: I guess that's the way it is in our lives sometimes, too. The Bible says we are the light of the world, but if we forget to "plug in" to our source of power in God, our light doesn't work either. So we need to plug in to God, our source of power, through reading God's Word, prayer, worship and Communion. Then we can go on to be God's light wherever we are.
