Are you looking for a ministry of prayer and care for those in great need? The Prayer Shawl Ministry may be a way for you, your church, or your community to reach out with love and care to others who are hurting.

So begins the website of Prayer Shawls Ministry. Visit this website for inspiration and direction for setting up a prayer shawl ministry: http://www.bshellhorn.com/prayer/frame.html

Prayer Shawl Pattern Variation
Use the Trinity stitch instead of the basket stitch.

Multiple of 4+2 stitches. I found using 66 or 70 stitches on size 13 needles gives a nice width.
Row 1 (right side) K1, *(K1,P1,K1) into first st, P3tog; rep from * to last st, K1.
Row 2 Purl.
Row 3 K1,*P3tog, (K1,P1,K1) into next st; rep from * to last st, K1.
Row 4 Purl.
Rep these 4 rows.

You can also use just a Multiple of 4 stitches, thus eliminating the K1 on Rows 1 and 3.

The finished shawl will have a definite right and wrong side, but it does create a beautiful pattern. I also like the idea of the Trinity being incorporated into the shawl through the K1,P1,K1 stitch (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) and then using the P3tog as the Three-in-One.
