However, this year was different. Someone suggested that we do something special. We are fortunate to have a woman who is a caterer by profession who belongs to our Women of the ELCA unit, so it was decided to ask Rhonda to provide a luncheon for us. She put her talented self to work for us. To begin, she sent out lovely invitations that suggested that the attire for the day should be a lovely frock, complete with a hat and gloves. When we arrived at the church basement, it had been transformed into a lovely garden party. There were picket fences, trellises, flowers and tables with candles and floor lamps glowing. The tables were beautifully set with linens, exquisite dishes and glassware. Rhonda, her sister and son, served our luncheon in courses, Did you ever eat stuffed pea pods? They're delicious! Following our two-hour delightful meal, we played games. It was one of those occasions that everyone will long remember. Maybe your local unit has done something special recently. If so, let us know what has been happening. Submitted by Joyce Anderson, Little Falls, Women of the ELCA |
