Prison Partnership
Lutheran Men in Mission Building Ministry

The Lutheran Men in Mission of Grace-Hendersonville are hammering once again. This time they have company &emdash; volunteers form the Henderson County Correctional Center Prison Fellowship, the Blue Ridge Prison and Jail Ministry. In 1999, they joined forces to build a community playground in a low-income area.

This year they worked together to refurbish two houses which will be sold to enable more HomeAid (the non-profit organization that funded the playground) projects.

"Projects of this type give the correctional Center residents the opportunity to give something back to the community and to experience the satisfaction of doing something for others without the expectation of being rewarded," said Tom Ballard, Grace member and volunteer administrator of the local prison fellowship program.
