VALENTINES DAY RECOGNITION OF MARRIAGES

The Sunday closest to Valentines day was chosen by the outreach committee as a day to honor and pray for marriages in our congregation.

 Procedure:

 1. All married couples were invited to bring their wedding pictures for displays on tables and window sills. They were asked to bring them the week before, but those who brought them that day were not turned away.

2. A letter of invitation was sent, especially to couples married the previous year.

3. Decorations to match the Valentine theme were also arranged for.

4. During the service, the pastor spent a few moments explaining the day.

a. We are asking God's blessings on all married couples;

b. We recognize that some have experienced the pain of separation or divorce, and we pray for God's presence for them too.

c. We asked couples to stand, according to the length of their marriage so far:

0-1 years, 2-10 years, 11-25 years, 26-50 years, 50+ years.

5. We prayed for God's strength, guidance and blessings.
