Here's a dedication service for using the coin boxes for the June, 2004 NW Synod of Wisconsin Assembly Offering of Quarters. Each Sunday School class and other organizations of the congregation will have one at each of their gatherings. Note: Banks may be ordered FREE by by calling 1-800-328-4648 (Augsburg Fortress) - give the ISBN # 600016338X. Please call or email Sue at the NW Synod of Wisconsin office (715-234-3373) or <mailto:Hildebrand@nwsynod-wisconsin.org> for a page of labels which can be used as a master to copy others. These labels will be attached to the banks and will give directions for when/where to deliver the banks for the synod assembly. |
Dedication of Coin Boxes for Synod Assembly Hunger Offering
Sunday school children and teachers are invited to gather round the
table where the coin boxes have been placed.
Sisters and brothers in Christ, children of God, Jesus reminds us
of our duties to help one another in need when he said "I was hungry
and you fed me." He would also have said, "I was an orphan
and you visited me and cared for me."
Our Synod, the Northwest Synod of Wisconsin of the Evangelical Lutheran
Church in America, has given us an opportunity to feed and care for
many thousands of hungry orphans in Malawi, Africa, and throughout the
world. By the offering of quarters at each year's Synod Assembly, we
join the other 200 plus congregations of the Synod in sharing our abundance
with children and others for whom simply surviving from day to day takes
more resources and strength than they have.
May these boxes be filled many times before the next Synod Assembly,
and may the offerings that we gather, together with those of our brothers
and sisters in the Synod, find their way to a hungry child, giving that
child life and hope and peace - to the glory of God.
Let us pray: Blessed are you, O Lord, our God, king
of the universe. Your gifts are many, and in wisdom you have made all
things to give
glory to you. Be with us now and bless us as we dedicate these coin
boxes to your praise and honor. Give us joy in all your works, and grant
that the coins from these boxes may fill both the givers and those who
receive their benefit with the assurance of your goodness and love for
all people. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives
and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
