A baptismal sponsor should consider: Praying for the child Setting a Christ-like example of service Developing a trusting relationship with the child Telling the child his or her own faith story Sharing the Bible witness of God's love Providing Christian symbols in education Understanding faith development remembering baptismal anniversaries, with programs like Faithkeepers.com To uplift the role of the sponsor, the congregation can: Provide instruction at the time of Baptism Share stories of faithful sponsors Uplift the importance of mentors, urging their continued involvement with the child's faith development
