"Prayer Around the Cross"
During Lent

Prayer Around the Cross provided the setting for our mid-week Lenten observance this year. It offered an opportunity for the people of our parish to experience a new way of prayer (new to us that is, but well-known in other parts of the Church).

Through silence & song, today's news & prayer, dimly lit room & lighting of candles participants were called to let their whole being be prayer. Even our inability to pray became prayer in the grace of God.

The Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words." Rms. 8:26

One of the participants expressed his appreciation for this time of prayer: "I found that I was praying the whole time. I would discover that I was lost in my own prayers, then I'd reconnect with where we were in the service, and then return again to prayer concerns. Very meaningful. Thanks."
