HAPPY DOLLARS

"Happy Dollars" was an idea created from Pastor Breitsch's former council president in Hackensack, NJ.  At the end of a service the congregation remains in their seats and the pastor comes down the aisle and asks "Who has Happy Dollars?"  People start waving dollar bills and as he approaches them with an offering plate they place the money in the plate and say "I have Happy Dollars for my daughter's birthday" or "I have "Happy Dollars" for my children doing well in school" etc.  You can have "Happy Dollars" for just about anything!

The money is then given to a community organization (Food Pantry, Shelter or whatever the church decides).  It is a nice way to always end the service on a positive note, gets people talking to each other on their way out of worship, helps people "get to know" each other better, and is a way of "giving" to a worthy cause outside of our church.
