Bearing Burdens
by Tim Williams

Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”  Galatians 6:2

I was at the end of my rope.  We had just spent the night before in the hospital having labor stopped for our unborn child and found that bedrest for the next two and a half months was the only way to bring our baby into this world safely.  To complicate matters I was taking nine credits towards my master’s, working full time, and helping raise two children under four.  That was when I found how important the congregation of Ascension was to our family!

Offers of help began to come immediately.  The nights I was gone at class, prepared meals were scheduled.  Pastor came to pray (I can’t express how much that meant.)  The caring people of our congregation brought us comfort, prayer, and help.  We made it through and have a healthy two year old that is a blessing beyond belief!

Lord God, thank you for a congregation of caring people who think beyond their own lives and pick up those who need help.  Help us to continue to be the place that You want us to be and help us to carry others burdens and to lighten their loads.  In Jesus’ name, AMEN.
