"Cross and Forget-me-nots"

Remember!

Forty Days

Read the story from Luke 4:1-13 again.

Think about the forty days Jesus spent fasting in the wilderness.

Think about the forty days of Lent. Often in the early church those persons who were to be baptized on the evening before Easter were asked to spend the forty days before that as a time of study, discipline, and fasting. They were not to "earn" God's favor, but to get ready for the joyful celebration on Easter of God's gift of his forgiveness.

On one of the first days of Lent you were invited to memorize or remember the verse in Joel 2:13 and to think about ways to "return to the Lord your God".

Memorizing can be FUN and easy. Here are some ways that might help you remember the verse.

Tape it up as a wall motto or refrigerator memo or as a verse above a doorway so you will see it often.

Use it as a part of a table prayer. Make a folded stand up card and place the typed verse on the dinner table (or the counter where you eat and run)!

Chant the verse or use home made rhythm instruments to accompany the chant.

Ask God to send the Holy Spirit to guide you in all your ways in this Lenten season.
