Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it!  How often have I desired to gather your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing! Luke 13:34

The Bible uses many images to help us understand what God is like. Listen! God is calling us to come and rest securely under loving wings.

A mother hen calls and gathers her chicks. They come to her and snuggle under her wings.

Find and read the hymn "Thy Holy Wings". (Text: Carolina Sandell-Berg and Gracia Grindal - Swedish folk tune.) The hymn uses the image of our Lord as a loving mother hen who gently spreads wings over us. The chicks nestle and rest securely under the care of the loving mother hen.
