God Sees and God Hears
But whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you. Matthew 6:6
But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that your fasting may be seen not by others but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you. Matthew 6:17-18
Lent is a time for praying and fasting. Sometimes people talk a lot about what they are "doing for God" so that others may pay attention to them. The writer of Matthew tells us that God sees what we are doing and hears what we are saying.
Talk to God
today. God will hear you.
If you are "giving up
something for Lent" remember that God knows what you are doing and
why you are doing it. God sees and God hears.
Use the Internet to learn about the ways certain organizations reach out to the poor or needy. Check with social service organizations listed in the yellow pages in your phone book. Find out if your church has a special place where it is sending charitable contributions. Decide as a family where you want to send money you save during Lent.
