Jesus Talks About His Death

In Luke we learn that in the days before his death, Jesus taught daily in the temple and would go out and spend the night on the Mount of Olives. John writes that Jesus used the example of the grain of wheat to talk about his coming death and resurrection.

Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. John 12:24

Jesus did not remain in his earthly body. He died and was buried. He rose again and as a result gives new life now and forever to many. Through his life and death he provided for many!

Jesus used the wheat as a symbol of his death and resurrection. It is also used as a symbol in other ways.

Think of grains of wheat that grow and produce much more wheat. Bread is baked from some of that wheat. The bread feeds the hungry of the world.

Bread is also used at communion to feed hungry souls. It assures them of forgiveness and life everlasting. The wheat that gave up its life bore much fruit.
