Please note that for the preceding weeks of Lent the thoughts for each day have been based on the texts for the preceding Sunday. During this Passion Week there will be new texts for each day.

It was morning. --- the day after the excitement and exultation of the entry into Jerusalem.

Jesus had been hailed as King. People had taken branches of palm trees and gone out to meet Jesus, shouting, "Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord -- the King of Israel!"

Now the day of celebration was gone. Some people hated Jesus and wanted to kill him. They did not see him as someone coming in the name of the Lord. Some were disappointed that Jesus did not meet their expectations.
