Read John 12:1-8

What is in our hearts?

Jesus came to meet with Mary, Martha, and Lazarus in their home. They gave a dinner for him. Lazarus, the one who had been raised from the dead, was eating at the table with the others. Mary took costly perfume and anointed Jesus' feet and wiped them with her hair. Judas Iscariot questioned the actions of Mary. He implied that the perfume could have been sold and the money given to the poor. He did not say this because he REALLY cared but because he was a thief and stole from what was put into the treasury. Jesus knew what was in the heart of Mary and what was in the heart of Judas. Jesus accepted the gift of love that came from the gratefulness that Mary felt.

Think about these things.

1. What feelings might Lazarus have had at the banquet his family gave for Jesus?

2. What might Lazarus have said to Jesus?

3. Because of Jesus we also have a new life. We are forgiven and free to live a new life.

4. What can we say to Jesus?

What is in our hearts? Jesus knows and sees.
