"Just Because . . ." Imagine yourself recovering from an illness, injury, surgery, or grieving the loss of a loved one, alone. A knock comes on your door and there stands a member of your church with a brightly decorated basket containing a quart of delicious homemade soup, some homemade bread, buns or muffins, some cookies or bars, candy and fruit. What a wonderful program this is. It is called "Just Because". sometimes the recipient receives a basket, not because of suffering, but "just because" they are loved and valued as a member of the church family. some special events in the lives of the church family are also celebrated, such as a new baby, a new home, a baptism, etc. This program is a very tangible example of God's great love being shown at Good Shepherd Lutheran in Eau Claire. Not being directly involved in this program, but having been a two-time recipient of a basket, I can personally testify to the wonderful feeling of being embraced in God's love through their program.
