What is a Lutheran?

Here are the simplified basics of our faith. If you are a visual person, you may want to draw the figure to help you remember each component. (It also gives you something to focus on if you feel a little awkward.) The Scripture references provide supporting text.

We are sinners who are forgiven and restored by God through Christ.
1 Corinthians 15: 55-57

God's gift of grace alone brings us to new life.
Ephesians 2: 8-9

Through the Holy Spirit, God joins our daily walk.
Luke 11: 28

God meets us in worship, Baptism and holy Communion, in the Bible and in prayer.
Colossians 3:16-17
Luke 22: 19-20
Galatians 3: 26-27
1 John 4:13

As a Christian community of faith, we share the love of God with each other and with the world.
Matthew 28: 16-20
