VISITOR'S WELCOME & INFORMATION SHEET

OUR SAVIOR'S LUTHERAN CHURCH

We would like to extend a warm welcome to you who are visiting our family of worshipers today.  We hope this information will be helpful to you and look forward to your returning.  Please take this sheet home with you, if you desire.

Our Savior's is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).  We strive to be a caring community of believers , practicing a diverse, inclusive, Christ-centered Ministry based on the Word of God.  Our church family may be large, but we are firmly committed to being a family where "everybody is somebody and Jesus is Lord!"

INFORMATION REGARDING THE SERVICE: We use three (3) different songbooks at worship services.  The bulletin explains the order of service.  It is helpful to know the following:

  •   LBW refers to the Lutheran Book of Worship (green book)
  • WOV refers to the With One Voice (blue book)
  • Brown book refers to the loose leaf book that is used the Contemporary Service.
Contemporary worship services (try it, you'll like it!) are held on the third Sunday of each month (and Saturday during the summer).

SCRIPTURE READINGS: the Psalm, and the Prayer of the Day are usually on the white scripture insert sheet in the bulletin.

THE RED FRIENDSHIP BOOK located at one of the ends of your pew should be signed and passed to other people in your pew during the offering time.  This is done to help identify each other as well as visitors.

EUCHARIST OR COMMUNION: The first Sunday of the month we celebrate communion by kneeling around the altar and the bread and wine (body and blood) are served separately.  The third Sunday of the month (and the first and third Saturday services during the summer) we celebrate communion by intinction (which means you take the bread which you are given and then dip the bread in the wine before consuming).

WHO IS WELCOME AT THE COMMUNION TABLE? All who believe in Jesus Christ, are baptized, and wish to partake of the body and blood of our Lord.

COMMUNION CARDS: Communion registration cards are located next to the hymn books.  Please fill out and place in the offering plate or give to any usher as you go to communion.

SPECIAL NEEDS: Hearing devices and LARGE PRINT HYMNALS are at the rear of the church.  Please ask an usher for assistance in locating.  There is an elevator located near the east entry of the church just off the main entry hall.  The east entry by the parking lot is wheelchair accessible.

COFFEE FELLOWSHIP HOUR: During the winter months we have a coffee hour between services and in the summer the coffee hour follows the Sunday worship service.  Red cups are provided for visitors so members can recognize and welcome them.  Please join us!

RESTROOMS: There are restrooms throughout our church, but the closest ones to the sanctuary are just off the Friendship Room.  There are changing areas for babies in both of these restrooms.

WATER FOUNTAIN: There is a water fountain in the Friendship Room next to the restrooms.

NURSERY: The nursery is provided for Sunday morning services.  It is well supplied with toys and kids have a good time there.  We ask that only children through age 4 use the nursery.  To find the nursery, go past the library, through the double doors and it is the first door on the left (or ask anyone!).  Small children are welcome at the worship service.  Blue colored "sunshine" bags filled with activities for the kids to help keep them occupied during services are located on a rack in the west end of the friendship room.

IT IS OUR SINCERE DESIRE TO WELCOME YOU and help you feel at home at our church.  As we are a large church, identifying visitors is not always easy.  Please stay for coffee and fellowship and have your coffee in the "red cup" so we can get to know you.  If you have any questions, please feel free to ask whomever you meet.  If you would like to become a member of Our Savior's, please indicate in the red Fellowship Book or call the church office at 715-235-0693.  God bless you and yours.
