COMMUNICATION TIPS

WHEN WRITING LETTERS TO CHRISTIANS OF THE CHURCH IN MALAWI, OR ANOTHER COUNTRY . . .

Pray for them in their circumstances at the time.

Pray for their continued strength in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Ask . . .

. . . them about their families.

. . . about what foods are in their daily diet.

. . . if they raise most of the food they eat.

. . .about their health.

. . . what health help do they have.

. . . if they have bus transport to a health clinic if there is no health service in their village? If not, how far away from their village is health help?

. . . if they have a school in their village? How many grades? Where is the nearest school from their village?

. . . what ages are able to attend school?

. . . where is their place of worship? In their villages? If not, how long is the walk to their place of worship? How many churches does the pastor or evangelist visit?

. . . do you have worship every Sunday? Other days/nights of the week?

OTHER QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT ASK . . .

When writing of yourself and your family . . .

Do tell of yourself, your work if outside the home, the work of your spouse.

Tell of the ages of your children, their grades in school, if they ride a bus.

Do you live in a city, town (village) or in the country?

When telling of yourself and life DO NOT STRESS things that you have . . . a 5 bedroom home, 3 cars, several computers, etc.

DO NOT ASK WHAT THEY NEED OR OFFER TO SEND ITEMS. They may never receive them and think you didn't send them and/or Customs costs may be too prohibitive for them to pay.
