Dear Friends in Faith,
I enjoyed our time together last evening. Your enthusiasm was contagious. Pastor
Roger and I again thank all 8 of our adult friends in faith for your willingness
to be a mentor for these young people during their high school years. All recent
studies of how best to hand on the faith to the next generation emphasize the
crucial role adult mentors play in helping our young people figure out how to
be faithful in a very complex world.
Please find enclosed a revised schedule, as well as a corrected address list.
Facilitators, if you would like to see additional material to get ideas for your
spring meetings, give me a call. I have a whole shelf full of books with interesting
ideas for groups. Call me at church (723-6048).
Ninth graders (soon to be tenth!), please make every effort to attend the high
school youth retreat at Luther Park on April 25-27. This weekend will be packed
with activities, food, conversation, games, and maybe a little sleep! We have
invited past youth group alumni to join us, which always increases our fun exponentially!
April 18 & 19 at the Foss Center at Augsburg College in Minneapolis a live,
in-concert recording with Bread for the Journey will be happening. We can be
part of this recording simply by showing up. No advance tickets will be sold!
The tickets are: $2.00/students and $5.00/all others. This concert, which will
include singing from the audience, will be recorded for a CD to be released this
summer by Augsburg Fortress. Let me know if you’d like to carpool up to
the concert and make a little
music! I’m planning to go up on Saturday, April 19.
Enjoy your two scheduled small group times together this spring. Remember that
you are free to get together with your friend in faith whenever you would like.
Surprise each other with a call or card!
Now for a chance to win some more of those infamous jelly beans. Which of us
is described below?
X loves lasagna, watches ER on TV, thinks Moses is the greatest
Biblical character,
wishes we’d have more of Spring, and values family more than anything
else.
When we gather again for the picnic on May 21, we’ll give
each of you a
chance to display your detective ability!
One last note. Facilitators, please let me know what food each person in your
small group plans to bring to our picnic on May 21.
Your friend in faith,
Pastor Greg |
