"ADOPT A GRANDPARENT" A confirmation class at First Lutheran Church recently held an "Adopt a Grandparent" dinner with senior members of the congregation. A goal of the class is to bring different generations together to get to know one-another. The confirmation class, made up of students in sixth through eighth grades, discussed aging and stereotypes about growing older. The students also planned and prepared the meal and helped pick up guests who needed a ride to church. Confirmation student Lara entertained the group with a piano solo. Students were also required to interview and introduce their guests. Guest Agnes wrote, "I enjoyed the evening visiting with the young people in the confirmation class. Now I can put faces on some of the young people I may read about in the church bulletin and Focus. May God bless you all for your consideration by inviting seniors in our church." Guest Ruth wrote, "Thank you very much for inviting me to the Adopt a Grandparent event. The kindness shown by the class and the 'getting to know you' interviews touched my heart. May God bless the concentrated learning experiences that are offered during the confirmation instruction phase of your congregational life."
