JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Youth Worker

Supervision: The Youth Worker reports to the Youth Committee and the Senior Pastor

Youth Ministry Mission Statement: Our mission is to provide a Christian environment that encourages youth to share ideas, emotions, and needs, and to develop a faithful Christian life.

Qualifications: Mature and active faith in Jesus Christ, training in youth and family ministries, basic Bible knowledge-, an understanding of the Lutheran traditions, interpersonal skills with young people; good organizational skills; previous experience highly valued.

General Responsibilities: The Youth Worker will:

establish a relational ministry with jr. and sr. high young people within the congregation and the community.

develop a youth committee to oversee the youth ministry of the congregation.

develop leadership among young people and adults of the congregation.

work cooperatively with Good Shepherd and Grace Lutheran Churches with the senior high program.

organize opportunities for growth in Christian faith through Bible studies, fellowship groups, servant experiences, and other activities.

Working Conditions: The position is a part time salaried position that requires flexibility in hours available for work. We consider it a quarter time position, but recognize that the amount of time each week may vary.
