- Responsibilities:
A. Primary Function of Position: To
coordinate youth and children's music ministry, including
singing with the middle school / high school choir, and
elementary choir and leading them when they sing in
church. The position may also include coordinating the
gifts of young musicians so that their talents are
used.
B. The Youth Music Coordinator selects music
appropriate to the season of the church year and within
the abilities of choir members.
C. Choirs rehearse on Sunday mornings and
musicians and choirs generally play or sing on Sunday
mornings and at other special services.
D. The Youth Music Coordinator purchases music
and music supplies for the music program. All
expenditures shall be under the budgetary control of the
Worship Committee.
E. The Youth Music Coordinator works with the
pastor and Sr. Choir Director in planning and worship
services that involve both choir and adult and youth
musicians.
F. Youth Music Coordinator occasionally attends
Worship Committee meetings to facilitate communication
and planning.
G. The Youth Music Coordinator performs the
duties of the position in a cordial and cooperative
manner with the Pastor, the Congregation Members and the
choir.
- Terms of employment:
A. Expectations
- 1. The Youth Music Coordinator will carry out the
above expectations to the best of his/her ability.
2. Time of Service: The Youth Music
Coordinator is hired by the Congregation Council and
performs his/her duties from the weekend after Labor
Day through the weekend before Memorial Day.
3. Generally the Youth Music Coordinator
will average about 6 hours per week, about 3 hours in
worship and rehearsal on Sunday mornings, and 2 hours
preparation time, 1.25 hours on Wednesday evenings
leading singing and socializing.
4. Separate arrangement will be made for
major seasonal responsibilities, eg. musicals, talent
shows, etc.
5. Duties during breaks, finals week,
illness will be negotiated with the Pastor and the
Director of Youth, Family and Learning
Ministries.
B. Remuneration
- 1. Immanuel will pay the director $000.00 on the
15th and 30th of each month minus required
withholding.
2. We will provide the coordinator with
periodic evaluations.
3. Other support: The congregation will
support the coordinator with Christian love and
prayers. The Congregation Council and the pastor will
help with guidance and advice. If any problems arise
with other staff members or congregation members they
should be dealt with through the Pastor and the
Congregation Council.
