Pastor of Outreach and Young Adults

Introductory Statement

Trinity Lutheran Church seeks a person to join our ministry leadership team and share the spirit of engaging all people in sharing their God-given gifts for ministry in ways which are meaningful and enriching to faith and daily life. The Pastor of Outreach and Young Adults (hereafter known as Pastor) will be the lead staff person in outreach evangelism with a focus on reaching young adults and incorporating them into the life of Trinity and a meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ.

Qualifications

The Pastor must see this position as a ministry to and with the people of God known as Trinity Lutheran Church. The passion for this must come from an understanding of God's love for us and God's desire for us to make the Good News of Jesus Christ come alive in tangible ways in others. A willingness to grow in faith and in this position as the ministry system of Trinity evolves is a requirement.

Specific experience will include a Masters of Divinity degree with a desire and commitment to join a leadership team committed to continually seeking new ways to build God's kingdom and make disciples. This Pastor will have demonstrated understanding and experience in leading younger adults in ministry. Passions for ministry with God's call to love and serve our neighbor must be clearly evident. The Pastor must be able to work well with all staff, volunteers and adults of all ages.

Characteristics

 The Pastor of Outreach and Young Adults will effectively possess and readily demonstrate:

1) An ability to engage young adults in worship and ministry

2) Flexibility with-in a wide-range of demands and responsibilities

3) Passion for imagining and developing new ministries

4) An outgoing and energetic spirit enveloped in faith and compassion for people

5) An ability to teach and preach the Good News of Jesus Christ with relevancy and enthusiasm

Description of Responsibilities

The Pastor of Outreach and Young Adults will:

1) Share a commitment to the Church of Jesus Christ and the priesthood of all believers

2) Utilize prayer as the key to ministry

3) Reach out, invite, form relationships and engage young adults in the ministries of Trinity

4) Lead the development and implementation of new worship, learning and service opportunities for younger adults not currently reached by existing ministries

5) Share in the overall pastoral ministries of Trinity in consultation and agreement with the pastoral team

6) Work cooperatively with all staff to enhance existing ministries and develop new ones to reach an ever growing and dynamic population within and beyond Trinity

Accountability

The Pastor will work cooperatively and receive support from the Pastoral Team who will uphold you in prayer. Furthermore the Pastoral Team will strive to assist you in reaching your full potential as you grow in faith and contribute to Trinity's goals for outreach and young adult ministry. Other ministry directors and staff pledge their support and will work cooperatively with you. Opportunity for review and goal setting will take place periodically.

Work Relationships

The Pastor shall:

1) emphasize and value the fostering of a team-spirit among the staff of Trinity Lutheran Church and recognize the importance and role of each staff member in the life and ministry of the congregation

2) be a mentor, companion, resource, and role model for the people of Trinity

3) foster and strive to grow a spirit of Christian community specifically with and between young adults of the congregation

4) work cooperatively with other ministry directors and appropriate committees and auxiliaries to educate and keep adults informed about ministry possibilities
