Director of Harmony in Spirit
The Contemporary Choir

Introductory Statement:

Trinity Lutheran Church seeks to engage all people in meaningful and grace-oriented worship. The Director of Harmony in Spirit will be the lead staff person in providing quality worship and music for the contemporary worship services of Trinity.

The goal of worship at Trinity is to offer gospel-centered, meaningful worship to a wide-range of people for the purpose of presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ. To achieve this, we offer choices in worship styles.

Qualifications:

The Director of Harmony in Spirit must see this position as a ministry to and with the people of God known as Trinity Lutheran Church. Commitment comes from an understanding of God's love for us and God's desire for us to communicate in worship and music the Good News of Jesus Christ. A willingness to grow in faith and in this position as the worship life of Trinity evolves is a requirement.

Specific experience will include a Bachelorís degree in Music or demonstrated experience in conducting and a principle instrument, preferably keyboard. Significant knowledge and familiarity with contemporary Christian music and presentation of such is required.

The Director must be able to work well with the Director of Worship and Music, the pastors, other music staff and volunteers musicians of all abilities.

 

Description of Responsibilities

The Director of Harmony in Spirit will:

1. Have primary responsibility for the planning and leading of upbeat, engaging music for contemporary worship

2. Include primary responsibility for music selection for contemporary worship in cooperation with the Director of Worship and Music.

3. Recruit, develop and encourage a volunteer core ensemble of instrumentalist as well as lead vocalists to ensure quality music leadership each week. This includes planning and leading regular rehearsals

4. Oversight of the H.I.S. music library including its organization and folder preparation weekly

5. Have lead responsibility in exploring and furthering the contemporary worship offerings of Trinity

Accountability:

The Director of Harmony In Spirit will be responsible to the Director of Worship and Music. Opportunity for review and goal setting will take place periodically.

Work Relationships:

The Director of Harmony in Spirit will:

1. Emphasize and be a part of the team spirit with the staff of Trinity Lutheran Church and recognize the importance and role of each staff member in the total ministry of the congregation.

2. Foster a spirit of joy and loyalty with fellow staff members and musicians.

3.Work cooperatively with the pastoral and music staff to ensure God pleasing worship.
