Job Description

Introductory Statement:

Trinity Lutheran Church seeks to provide for people and grow them into a meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ. The Director of Building and Grounds will be the lead staff person in ensuring that all our properties are suitable for this growth and ready to serve people in effective and efficient ways.

Qualifications:

The Director of Building and Grounds must see this position as a ministry to and with the people of God known as Trinity Lutheran Church. Commitment comes from an understanding of Godís love for us and Godís desire for us to share in the community of believers and spirit of Christís love. A willingness to grow in faith and in this position as Trinity grows is a requirement.

Specific experience will include:

The candidate must be able to work well with all staff, volunteers and Property Committee chair to provide a pleasing and suitable physical plant for our ministries.

Description of Responsibilities

The Director of Building and Grounds will:

1 Have primary responsibility in all matters regarding the maintenance and improvement of buildings and grounds.

2 Plan in cooperation with the staff needed building issues so that the facility will best serve the ministries of all.

3 Provide primary staff leadership to the Property Committee and Building and Grounds staff and attend staff meetings.

4 Maintain a regular schedule of routine maintenance and coordinate seasonal maintenance for building and mechanical systems.
5 Recruit and coordinate volunteers for building and grounds tasks in cooperation with the Property Committee and staff.

6 Administer the business affairs of the physical properties, including the developing of property budget, overseeing expenditures, and projecting capital purchases as well as the maintenance and oversight of all equipment related to building and grounds.

7 Direct the buildings and grounds staff, serving as primary supervisor. Assistance and support will be provided upon request from the Administrative Pastor.

8 Stay abreast on new products, equipment and systems that will provide greater efficiency and production for building and mechanical systems maintenance and staff time to the goal that our ministries are better served.

Accountability:

The Director of Building and Grounds will be responsible to the Administrative Pastor. Opportunity for review and goal setting will take place periodically.

Work Relationships:

The Director of Building and Grounds will:
1 Emphasize and be a part of the team spirit with the staff of Trinity Lutheran Church and recognize the importance and role of each staff member in the total ministry of the congregation.
2 Foster a spirit of joy and loyalty with fellow staff members.
3 Work cooperatively with the Property Committee to further the effectiveness and appearance of Trinityís building and grounds.
